I had a baby 6 months ago and thought everything was fine but I went for a run today and I could feel myself weeing, I couldn't hold it in. What is going on? I don't want to stop exercising.
Our expert answered:
Hello Lee,
Thanks for your enquiry.
Light bladder leakage or LBL is a common problem for women, particularly those who are pregnant or just had a baby. The reason being is your pelvic floor muscles (those muscles which support your bladder and urinary tract) are weakened, usually as a result of childbirth or hormonal changes due to breast feeding. Many women can experience leakage after childbirth through coughing, sneezing, laughing or exercise.
The good news is that the problem can be cured by strengthening your pelvic floor muscles through daily pelvic floor exercises. There is a whole section on the Poise website dedicated to pelvic floor exercises. Word of warning, many women don't do the exercises properly so if you're not sure about which muscles to exercise, speak to your GP.
Whilst your regaining your pelvic floor strength, Poise have a range of Liners, Ultrathins and Pads to help keep you protected during exercise. Use the product selector tool and request a free sample before you buy.
