I have incontinece after a hysterectomy, how can I help myself until i can get to the Dr?

Hi, I had a hystercetomy about 4 weeks ago and started experiencing severe incontinence over the past 2 weeks, I have been treated for bladder infection (slight infection), however the problem is persisting and is getting worse. I am too scared to go out unless I know exactly where the toilets are, when I walk or sit, it just runs out. I am doing my pelvic floor excercise. I am feeling pretty dispondant!

Our expert answered:

Pelvic floor exercises will assist with toning your pelvic floor muscles and if you follow the guidelines consistently you will notice and improvement.

Is your infection totally cleared? If not, this will continue to cause urge and possible incontinence.

It is best to see your doctor as soon as possible. You can also talk to your Local Continence Advisor either in the Community Centres or at your Local Hospital.
