I was told that doing too much pelvic floor exercises can have a negative impact on your pelvic floor. Is there any truth to this?
Our expert answered:
Conducting regular pelvic floor exercises will help to improve any bladder weakness you may be experiencing and can also prevent your condition from worsening.
It is a myth that doing too many exercises would have a negative impact on your muscles. You should gradually build up to do more exercises and try and hold your contractions longer each time.
If you feel unsure, consult your local physiotherapist who can help you to develop the best pelvic floor exercise program for you.
