I am going to have a small operation done soon, but i'm not sure exactly what. I'm sure she said my Urethia was going to be put in a sling! Does this sound right?

Our expert answered:

Hi Leonie,

Urethral sling surgeries are for treatment of urinary incontinence. The procedure involves placing a sling around the urethra to lift it back into a normal position and to exert pressure on the urethra to aid urine retention.

You may need to seek further clarification if you are unsure of the procedure from either the treating Dr or your GP.
