I got pregnant about 2 months ago, why do I need to go to the toilet more often?

It's getting really annoying, but I guess it's only going to get worse. I just thought this early in the pregnancy, I wouldn't be affected yet.

Our expert answered:

The need for women that are pregnant to go to the toilet more often is because of the increased intra-abdominal pressure from the weight of the foetus.

Women who are pregnant or have had a pregnancy are at a higher risk of developing Stress urinary Incontinence as a result of damage to the Pelvic Floor Muscles.

However, in your case it sounds like your hormones are kicking in and telling your bladder it needs to empty before it is ready. I suggest some mild bladder training for a few weeks. Basically holding on for 10, then try 15, then 20 minutes longer than when you feel you need to go. This should help your bladder know when it is physically ready to empty, rather than when your brain says.
