Is it better for me to have a caesarean rather than natural delivery when I have my baby to avoid having urine accidents?

There's so much confusing information out there!

Asked by J. N. over 2 years ago

Our expert answered:

Not necessarily, as Urinary Incontinence can be the result of pregnancy is because of the foetal pressure and weight damaging the Pelvic Floor Muscles, rather than the birthing process itself.

Although research has indicated that the vaginal birthing process for delivery of the foetus can contribute to damage or trauma to the organs and structures of the birthing canal and the Pelvic Floor, it is not a direct or expected cause of incontinence and many women who have a caesarean suffer bladder weakness also.

Keep up with your pelvic floor exercises throughout your pregnancy and post birth.
