I go for weeks at a time without any trouble, then for a few days of the month i find that a have an almost constant leakage, though i don't actually need to urinate. It usually occurs the week before my period.

Our expert answered:

Hello Lily,
Thanks for your enquiry.
During the menstrual cycle women secrete different levels of hormones. A week before your period, your Uterus becomes heavier due to increase in blood vessels/proliferation of the Uterine lining. This could lead to pressure on the Bladder and the Pelvic Floor Muscles.

Our recommendation would be for you to look into doing some Pelvic Floor Muscle exercises. There is a whole section on the Poise website dedicated to PFM exercises. Also talk to your local continence advisor or continence nurse. They will be able to assess your condition properly and recommend the best course of action.
