i noticed that i had a weak bladder when i was 15 what could have caused it
When i was 15 i noticed that i leaked urine when i laughed, jumped, ran, coughed and sneezed. it was very frustraiting as i had to quit hockey which i loved coz i leaked urine when i ran and couldnt do other sports because of it. i had my son when i was 20 but that doesnt seem to have made it worse. im now 21 and i still leak which is upsetting as i cant run around with my little boy. i want to know what could have caused my bladder to weaken at such a young age??
Our expert answered:
Some women are pre-disposed to having a weak bladder and need to ensure they are training their pelvic floor muscles to help improve the situation.
It is very common for women to suffer from light bladder leakage after they have had a baby so you are definitely not alone. Don't let it stop you from doing the things you love - you should be able to play hockey and you may like to try a product like Poise liners to help keep you feeling dry and avoid any embarrassing leaks.
I would also recommend you see a physiotherapist who can help you with pelvic floor exercises which can really improve your weak bladder.
